Time Travel and Time Paradoxes

I just saw a awesome documentary on National Geographic Channel about timetravel and that we are slowly learning more about what it is and how it needs to be done.
We discoverd simple things like how to go back in time on earth other examples of how to travel THRU time.
However we have yet to master time travel, which led to the subject of time paradoxes.

What would happen if you go in the past and stop your grandpa from making your father?

- My thoughts on this are that when you travel in such a way you will become a new identity in that timezone much like sessions on a webbrowser..
So if you stop it from happening nothing obvious would change.
However if you then proceed to go back to the future the effects might be different.

Personaly i dont believe that time is linear at all so no matter what you change or dont change. if you travel to the future 4 times from the exact same location and time you will always end up in a new unique future..

So how do you all think about this?

Mm.. It's and interesting thought.

Perhaps you'll not simply disappear, but you'll change somehow.

But tho think though, if you were the inventor, you used the machine to go to the past, stop your grandfather from breeding and you ceased to exsist...

WHO WHOULD HAVE MADE THE MACHINE TO GO BACK IN THE FIRST PLACE?!

Well my understanding is different as when you travel back in time,

you become a new existance in that timezone, wether your dad or grandad exists does not matter.
You exist only from the time you arived, thus you are 0 years old.
Its pretty hard to explain with my current train of thoughts but ill try to explain better when i can.

Also there is a dilemma when it comes to traveling to the past.
If traveling to the past was posible,
Why havnt we seen time travelers yet?
Is it because they know about the time paradoxes?

That could be true, or maybe they disguise themselves for precautionary measures?

I know there are a group of people who believe Jesus died because of time travel.

They go back in time to witness the death of Jesus. They don't want to change history by voting for the other guy to get crucified instead, therefore it's the time travelers' votes that cause Jesus to be crusified.

Does that make sense? xD

Awesome i never imagined religious people believing things like time travel xD

i guess then we can blame time travelers for other things aswell =P

Maybe hitler got visited by a jew from the future and he got so jealous of time travel....that the rest is history?

Ooh, imagine the possibilities!

How many religions were started by extremist time travelers going back and putting ideas into people's heads?

And you hear about people like Leonardo Di Vinci, inventing stuff before his time.
Was it even stuff from his time? Perhaps he himself was from the future?

Yeah, my brain hurts a little more now. xD
